Chin Check - 347 (UFC 330 NE Preview)
If you can feel that buzz, that emotion, people, well that is the anticipation of a UFC 'Numbered Event' just around the corner. AND, this one is a little more spicy, as there are TWO title fights anchoring the card! Which is taking place in Philadelphia (first time since 'UFC 133: Evans vs. Ortiz 2', 6th August 2011) at the Xfinity Mobile Arena.
The 'Liberty Bell' and crowds are gonna get rung, cause they're coming back hard, with this card. Two debuts and starting off with hometown hitter Jeremiah Wells, who's taking on streaking Myktybek Orolbai. Could there be a passing of the torch as Neil Magny takes on Ramiz Brahimaj, Vicente Luque takes on Tresean Gore, and Edson Barboza faces Esteban Ribovics!
Closing the show, we have two champions making the first defence of their belts. Mackenzie Dern (c) against Gillian Robertson sees two fighters with legit BJJ foundations that have developed their skillsets and become two badarse fighters. Where will it go, who knows, BUT it will be intense! THEN, Ian Machado Garry is going to attempt what only one other person has done, (that being eleven years ago!), and that is defeat the heir apparent! Islam Makhachev (c) has walked in the shadow of greatness, carving out his own legacy. With his second weight championship, he's looking to extend his story even further Saturday night. Big names have been doing their thing in recent weeks, but as the UFC comes home to Las Vegas, it's the up-and-comers who are taking centre stage tonight!
There are several fights on the 13 strong card that have serious ramifications for positions in title contention! Such as Norma Dumont hoping to seal her shot with a win over Ketlen Vieira. As the Heavyweight division is thin, Waldo Cortes-Acosta & Ante Delija will be trying to get closer with a win. And of course, the Headline bout, between Steve Garcia & David Onama could provide the next challenger for the strap!
