It's also more than identity, cause it deals with voice. Now, we now it takes time to find your voice (in all the things you do), so what would happen if, to become you, you might lose the thing that defines what you do, that separates you from everyone else. So with 'Part TWO', a mother & daughter team have worked to bring a South Asian story to the screen that is seeded with folklore. They tapped a director with vision to help bring everything to life. And we end up with something that really is looking at that moral crossroad we can find ourselves at! THEN, we sit down with the director, and the lead actress who also served as one of the producers, to really get their insights into what fuels stories, desires and creativity!!! This week we started off with some fantastical horror from the deep via ChampDog Films & ITN Distribution. We get some low-fi sci-fi where some thing could be watching via Obvious Allegory, Sara Fost Pictures, TimeLapse Pictures, Line 200, Tip-Top Productions, Quiver Distribution, VVS Films. AT the cinema an animated classic transitions to live action thanks to Walt Disney Pictures, Seven Bucks Productions, Flynn Picture Co, 5000 Broadway Productions, Walt Disney Studios. AND, we have a new entry in a beloved horror franchise that will chill your bones as it burns those that challenge it via New Line Cinema, Screen Gems, Ghost House Pictures, Warner Bros. And thanks to Prodigy PR's Taylor Shannon, we couldn't have picked a better way to start things off! We touch base with a filmmaker bringing his sophomore effect to the Festival that debuted his first feature. Now, that one got a lot of acclaim, and this new joint is most definitely going to eclipse that one. It's bold, unflinching, and gets to the very fabric of your consciousness. Leaving you pondering ideals & notions days after the final credits have rolled. Although many head to Palm Springs for the steaks, dates, or Brandini Toffee, we came for different flavours, served up by Kaitlin Flanigan & Rahul Barkley from Brigade. As we have a short film that cooks up an emotional platter of friendship, freedom, bravado, tension, stress, guilt, and denial. THEN, we sit down with the director and her co-writer for a fantastic chat about storytelling, visual style, finding the voice of the characters, story, and a LOT more!!! THEN, we get to sit down with a first time director, and discover the impetus for the film, the importance of not only showcasing Filipino Martial Arts, but ensuring that the fight scenes felt realistic. Delivering on the feeling of not being excepted, all the nuance behind that, as well as from the Filipino gym and team owner. Thanks to Franckie Francin & Patricia Chica at ChicArt PR we got to dip our toe into the Cannes Festival International Film & Inclusion and cover an extraordinary documentary playing as part of the Pavillon Afriques x Pavillon Afronova. THEN we sit down with the filmmaker to peel back the different aspects of storytelling that allowed for such an immersive experience. Shaimaa Khan and the good folks at London Flair PR came through with a new indie short that we were trying to schedule during the 50th Cleveland International Film Festival, but couldn't quite lock it down. However, we got it to work, so we get a story that, through great storytelling, will draw you in, and have you asking so many internal questions on humanity, empathy, perception, and more. PLUS, it will be screening at the upcoming 25th Tribeca Festival. THEN, we sit down with the great mind behind it all and get all the insights and reflection on making this work, bringing it to life, and putting it into the world!!! The Octagon is picking up more air miles, as we go from Oklahoma, all the way to Abu Dhabi. We have a 'Fight Night' that is all about opportunity. On Saturday night, any of these 26 fighters can elevate themselves into the peoples consciousness with an exceptional performance or an extraordinary finish that lights up the 'Etihad Arena'.

We have two fighters returning from long-term injury, the 'Argentine Dagger', Santiago Ponzinibbio, and 'The Prodigy', Wellington Turman. They're facing two tough opponents though, in Sam Patterson and Islam Dulatov. There are also six fighters making their debuts on the card. Abdul Hussein, Magomed Tuchalov, Muhammad Said, Abubakar Vagaev, and also Magomed Zaynukov vs Damian Rzepecki who are facing each other. On top of all of this, there are several who are a fight away from the possibility of having to find a new fight home.

So although this might not be a card stacked with superstars, with so much possibility ready to be seized..... There was a LOT to talk about on @ChinCheckPod (ep 341), trying to uncover the potential advantages someone may have, and those keys to victory. After a 'Numbered Event' with a record number of finishes, and a 'Main card' where nothing went past the 1st round, where do you go from there? Well, Oklahoma City of course, and the Paycom Center to be precise for a 'Fight Night' featuring a clash of former champions!

We have five fighters making their debuts in the octagon, and the 'Main card' features the potential next generation of stars ready to make statements that will drown out recent events! One such bout being, Tabatha Ricci vs Fatima Kline. With the Strawweight strap being contested at 'UFC 330', both women will want to show that they could be next! The same could be said for the 'Co-main' and 'Headline' bouts and the implications for the Middleweight division.

The anticipation was so high, and even though the end wasn’t what we hoped, ‘International Fight Week 2026’ ended with a fantastic ‘Numbered Event’, that had more bang then anyone could have hoped for!

Although only one of our debuting fighters walked away with a win, John Garza still showed a whole lot of talent, and made it clear, he won't be an easy match for anyone. Then there's Gable Steveson, who definitely lived up to the hype and expectations! With so many finishes on the night, it just felt right that King Green got to walk away with an extra bag! So many fighters have stacked a claim for that next step, Farid Basharat, Brandon Royval, and Mario Bautista all could headline 'Fight Nights' going forward, along with Green!

The BIG winner of the night is undoubtedly Paddy Pimblett, who not only bounced back from his first loss in the promotion, but also let it be known, if you don't respect the skills, see how unconsciousness feels! When you think about everything leading into this weekends ‘UFC’, no truer words have been spoken, than those from the great James Todd:

Cause when ‘The Notorious’ steps into the cage Saturday night, he’s not thinking ring rust, he’s mind is set on destruction! However, he’s not facing a fresh faced rookie, the ‘Blessed’ is also one of the greatest to ever do it, and he’s not looking to playing the part of a sacrilegious lamb!

This is an outstanding match-up, BUT, the card has EVEN more intrigue to it! We have two debuts, one of which is for a fighter who could go on to reshape the face of the ‘Heavyweight’ division. There’s a former champion moving up a weight class to a stiff opening test. A beloved vet opening the ‘Main card’ looking to show, the dog still got bark! Championship aspirations at Flyweight, and a rematch at Bantamweight that could solidify a title shot. PLUS, a ‘Co-main’ that could have headlined a ‘Fight Night’ and will most definitely give us a title challenger!!!!

As the octagon makes its second trip to Azerbaijan, the UFC is looking to deliver yet another thrilling night for fight fans, similar to last week at the Meta Apex. Taking place at the renowned National Gymnastics Arena in Baku, this event is positioned to shine the light on more up-and-coming, potential stars!

The night is anchored by two great fights, in our 'Co-main' Sharabutdin Magomedov vs Michel Pereira and 'Headliner' Rafael Fiziev vs Manuel Torres.
