Writer, Director, Producer, Editor
Solomon Gray was born and raised in New Jersey. He spent his childhood in front of the television or at the local multiplex indulging his passion for horror movies: “Night of the Living Dead,” “Silence of the Lambs,” “Scream,” “Blair Witch Project,” “Paranormal Activity,” and anything from John Carpenter. He earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Rutgers University and a master’s degree in English and American Literature from Stanford University.
After graduating, Solomon decided to take up screenwriting. His scripts have won or been announced as finalists in competitions sponsored by the Slamdance Film Festival, the Screamfest Horror Film Festival, and the Shriekfest Film Festival. His horror script “Freeze” advanced at the Nichol Screenwriting Competition, and his genre scripts for “Geek” and “Roses” were optioned by Candlewood Entertainment.
Solomon is also the co-writer (with Sonny Mallhi) of “Hurt,” which Movies in Focus called “a thought-provoking slasher film” and “the best horror film of the year.” His directorial debut, the short film “Crybaby,” was an official selection of the Fantasia Film Festival.
“We’re Not Safe Here” marks Solomon’s debut as a feature film director.
