Echo Chamber - 416 - Part Two (Little Amélie or the Character of Rain)
We are keeping things going in 'Part TWO' of this week's @EchoChamberFP as we have some French delight on deck!!!
MARGARET always have an array of interesting titles, so it was tremendously enjoyable to work with Robyn Deane for this marvellous book adaptation! As soon as you step into the world of 'Little Amélie', you can see why the BAFTA's, Oscar's and Cesar's have so much love for this story. SO, getting to sit down with the co-director's and exploring what went into the 7 years of meticulous refinement, growth, evolution and story breadth! Wi-Fi may have been a bit iffy, but nothing could dampen this tremendous interaction!!!
'Little Amélie or the Character of Rain' is the feature directorial debut from Maïlys Vallade & Liane-Cho Han Jin Kuang, who co-wrote with Aude Py & Eddine Noël, based on Amélie Nothomb' 2000 memoir 'The Character of Rain'. At two years old, Amélie takes a miraculous bite of chocolate, and suddenly awakens to all the world’s wonders. As she explores her home in post-war Japan, Amélie forms a close bond with her family’s housekeeper, Nishio-san, and discovers new delights in every flower petal, koi pond, and raindrop. This tender and visually stunning story about the healing power of human connection is unforgettable.
