Usually when we bring you a ‘Part TWO’ there’s a new film we’re shining a light on. For this @EchoChamberFP though, we’re doing something a little different!
The great folk at ChicArt & Flirt Films are working with a young woman who has an incredible vision and a powerful story to tell (which has nearly finished post). So we sat down to talk about her experiences, influences, why this was the time, and so much more!!!
'Her Choices' is the feature directorial debut from Yeniffer Behrens, which she also wrote. Her Choices" is not the rise and fall of the Venezuelan Narco Queen; it is the promise of a young girl's life turned upside-down by her mother's choices. It is the story of surviving and overcoming bad choices & judgments made by those you trust the most. Jenny (Ana Gabriela Wolfermann @anawolfermann) is her family's (Luis Jose Lopez @luisjoselopez01, Shalim Ortiz @shalimortiz, Jesika Marcano @jesikamarcano) first-generation pageant queen and scholarship recipient at eighteen. Raised in the wild '80s Miami era, she managed to shape a bright future for herself despite her environment. Just as it seems she has a way out of her family's Narco life, her roots betray her & her young siblings (Luis Soler, Adrian Moreira-Behrens, Madrid Pinilla Castillo, Mila Behrens). Jenny is called to choose to run the family business while almost everyone is locked up. Without her mother Mara's (Yeniffer Behrens) fearless edge, Jenny is left alone protecting her siblings while being sexualized, harassed, and robbed by her mother's so-called friends. Mara and federal agents (Mauricio Mendoza, Kevin A. Walton) ask Jenny to lure her favorite uncle out of hiding to spare Mara's looming life sentence in prison. At eighteen, Jenny is asked to do what most adults can never do in a lifetime. The question, in the end, is: Will Jenny follow the chaos of her family's choices or forges a new life path with Her Choices?

Yeniffer Behrens is an award-winning director, producer, writer and working actress. For over 25 years, her passion for making a difference in the world by creating inspirational stories comes from a tumultuous childhood, when she would lock herself in her room to play, draw and act out happy ending stories while actively shutting out the drama happening in her parents toxic and violent relationship.
I chose to be an actress to escape the dark reality my family unfortunately faced as undocumented immigrants. I loved to play in the world of my imagination with my Barbie dolls & Raggedy Ann. This helped heal me and express emotions in safe spaces such as the Theatre, commercials, film & tv sets. Now, after 3 years of being a working actress in Hollywood, it is time to tell my BIOPIC, a story about a young LATINA from Venezuela raised in D.C & Miami dreaming of a better life. A new perspective on the disloyal Narco world from a country we hardly ever see in mainstream films.
It is a story never seen before about what happens to the children of parents that chose the Miami drug trade life in the 80's.
After winning the Miss Teen Miami crown, Jenny is faced with the aftermath of her families choices.

After realizing how well they worked together, they joined forces and produced the “Soul Sisters” episode of his Imagen Award nominated original web as series, Encounters.
TFF’s first narrative feature film, After School: Lockdown at Harborside was a family affair, after Mauricio & Yeniffer tied the knot. It won Best Film, Best New Director, Best Director and Best Child Actor in the film festival circuit.
