People, the 27th Fantasia International Film Festival (20th July - 9th August 2023) has now finished. So, here it is (it got delayed) our final piece of @EchoChamberFP coverage!!!

Today we look at two documentary's dealing with different forms of manipulation, and one feature film about loneliness.

'Satan Wants You' is written & directed by Sean Horlor & Steve J. Adams. Satan Wants You tells the untold story of how the Satanic Panic of the 1980s was ignited by "Michelle Remembers", a lurid memoir by psychiatrist Larry Pazder and his patient Michelle Smith. Supported by the Catholic Church, the bestselling book relied on recovered-memory therapy to uncover Michelle’s childhood abduction by baby-stealing Satanists. Amplified by law enforcement and America’s Daytime TV boom, satanic rumors spread through panic-stricken communities across the world, leaving a wave of destruction and wrongful convictions in their wake. This film digs deep into the roots of moral panics and cult conspiracies, showing how these events still affect and distort our reality today.

'Home Invasion' is written & directed by Graeme Arnfield. A nightmarish essay film on the history of the doorbell, tracing its invention and constant reinventions through 19th century labor struggles, the nascent years of narrative cinema, and contemporary surveillance cultures.

'Sometimes I Think About Dying' is directed by Rachel Lambert and written by Kevin Armento, Stefanie Abel Horowitz & Katy Wright-Mead. Fran (Daisy Ridley) is a socially awkward office worker who spends most of her time in isolation and daydreams of her own death, when a new colleague pricks the bubble of her own isolation
