It's 'Day 8' of @EchoChamberFP coverage of the 67th BFI London Film Festival (4th to 15th October 2023)!

We have three films today, the first is form the 'First Feature Competition' strand, then there are two 'Gala' features that come with a lot of buzz!!!

'Sky Peals' is written & directed by Moin Hussain. Adam Muhammed (Faraz Ayub) works nightshifts at a fast food restaurant in a motorway service station. A directionless and unassuming man, he lives a lonely life. Upon hearing of his estranged father’s death, he seeks information about a man he barely knew, and soon begins to wonder if his late parent was actually from another planet.

'The Holdovers' is directed by Alexander Payne which he co-wrote with David Hemingson. As the students of New England prep school Barton Academy excitedly depart for the winter holidays, a ragtag bunch with nowhere to go are forced to stay behind. Making things worse, their appointed ‘babysitter’ is the cantankerous Professor Paul Hunham (Paul Giamatti). But as the days pass, the grumpy professor forms an unexpected bond with smart-but-troubled student Angus (Dominic Sessa), and Mary (Da’Vine Joy Randolph), the school’s cook, who is grieving the loss of her son.

'The Book of Clarence' is written & directed by Jeymes Samuel. Unlike some members of the Jerusalem community in AD33, Clarence (LaKeith Stanfield) is not the most spiritual of citizens. Seemingly unmoved by Jesus Christ’s (Babs Olusanmokun) message of peace and brotherly love, Clarence sees a perfect window of opportunity to take advantage of a nascent celebrity culture. But at what cost to his eternal soul?
