Echo Chamber - SXSW - Vol.1 (Black Zombie)
For the first time, @EchoChamberFP https://www.instagram.com/echochamberfp/ ventures into those hallowed Austin vibes, with a little South by Southwest action! And if we’re gonna do it, what a way to get things popping!!!!
The beauty of expansive, long-form conversation, is that it can really get under the skin of topics many just skate over, and demystify preconceived notions. So when Falco's Imani Charles came with the opportunity to speak with Maya Annik Bedward about her feature directorial debut, which was dealing with topics & notions not normally discussed, of course we were eager to get that done! And what an interesting, expansive confab was had. Maya was incredibly open about the whole process, giving her entire team their flowers and talking about Haiti & Vodou with so much care, and passion, it was clear she was truly meant to shine a light on these topics! This is most definitely not one to miss, people!!! Watch the conversation: HERE! https://youtu.be/ugoWcj41RRE

We're now taking a look at Irish Film Festival London's closing film, thanks again to Sophie Toumazis & Marcello Aisoni It's in part a poetic exploration of past reflection, and also a pondering on art, what makes it worthy of preservation and how it connects us to moments of our lives! ALSO, we get to sit down with the director and take a journey into his transition from documentary to narrative film, and the interesting approach he used!!! Echo Chamber - IFFL25 - Vol.1 (Michael Hayden & Irish Film Festival London 2025)
It's back to the Festival scene, and thanks to the one, Cynthia Amsden, @EchoChamberFP https://www.instagram.com/echochamberfp/ ventures to the 'Vancouver International Film Festival' (VIFF) for the first time!!!
Just one bit of coverage, BUT, this one is something special! We have a documentary that peels back the curtain on identity, cultural appropriation, stigmatization, and discrimination around tattoos in the Philippines. It also explores through the director, what it means to be Filipino in Canada and the Philippines. THEN, we sit down with the director of the film, and his producer, to really get some insights into the source of the feelings, why the documentary made sense, what it was like being back in the Philippines, and traveling to Buscalan. As well as the experience of being around Apo Whang-od and her very first apprentice Grace Palicas! We manage to squeeze in so much over the course of 67 minutes, so you REALLY won't want to miss this one!!! Watch the conversation: HERE! https://youtu.be/DrJjrTiqm0g
